Drama Club

winterfest

Winterfest (formerly Springfest) is one of the main focuses of Drama Club. Much of the pre-Winterfest Drama Club season will be spent creating a Drama Club piece to open Springfest with. This piece will span anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes, and anyone who attends Drama Club at least once is allowed to participate in Drama Club's Winterfest Production.

Each year any and every student in the school has an opportunity to direct, write, run tech in, and act in any production they see fit. Springfest is completely student driven. No LHS staff member controls the direction, writing, or acting of a production in Springfest, the one exception being the Drama Club piece, as Mr. Bogart guides much of that production.

The production and cast is chosen by the student Director(s). Winterfest Directors may choose to hold auditions, or they may hand pick their cast as they see fit. Directors are responsible for all aspects of a production including but not limited to: costumes, lights, and set.

The reason we are using the word production, is because a Winterfest can be anything. It could be a play, a book reading, an ethnic dance, or any combination of any form of art or entertainment with a theatrical element.

Winterfest is truly a learning experiance for all involved. Actors can hone their skills, Directors learn the intricacies of running a production, Techies discover how to properly set light and sound cues, and Writers figure out how to weave a story.

All those participating in Winterfest are urged to stay each of the three nights of Springfest, to enjoy each other's productions, even if your production has already gone that night. We ask this because every production deserves an audiance, and it's just not fair to your peers if they watched your production, and you did not watch theirs.

If any problems or questions arise during the production process, Mr. Bogart is the main and best resource for any assistence that any actor, director, techie, or writer feels they need. He has experience in all these fields, and has been helping run Winterfest/Springfest for quite some time now. As always, the rest of us on board are available to help out as well.
